TELEMUNDO STUDIOS EXPANDS ITS ALTERNATIVE CONTENT PORTFOLIO WITH NEW MOBILE FORMATS FOR TODAY'S AUDIENCE

Telemundo Studios is launching into the production of micro-dramas with the production of 'María, Madre de Dios', a vertical biblical series made in partnership with VIP 2000 TV.

‘'Mary, Mother of God' will be the first title in the slate being prepared by Telemundo, which includes original productions, other biblical series and new versions of some of its classic titles, such as 'Weapons of a Woman' and 'Diary of a Gigolo'.

Javier Pons

“With this new mobile-first portfolio, we are building on Telemundo’s legacy of Spanish-language drama and adapting it to the ways audiences prefer to watch content today,” said Javier Pons, chief content officer and head of Telemundo Studios.

Filmed in Miami and co-produced with VIP 2000 TV, 'Mary, Mother of God' is presented as the first biblical series in vertical format in the world.

It consists of 25 episodes that reinterpret for new generations one of the most emblematic love stories in the Bible and marks the beginning of a franchise of biblical stories that will include upcoming titles such as 'Moses & Zipporah', 'Samson & Delilah' and 'John the Baptist & Salome'.

The full franchise will be unveiled at Content Americas 2026, where buyers will have exclusive access to this new portfolio.

“The slate kicks off with originals like 'María, Madre de Dios' within a lineup of four titles, reaffirming our role as the home of scripted television in Spanish, regardless of the screen or format,‘ Pons added.

María Eugenia Muci

“This project reflects our passion for creating meaningful content that inspires, regardless of religion or age. We are confident that these stories, told from a fresh, fast-paced, and emotionally powerful perspective, will connect with new audiences,” said María Eugenia Muci, content director of VIP 2000 TV.

“This co-production with Telemundo Studios continues the vertical growth we began this year in Miami, reinforcing our commitment to innovative formats. Each franchise brings a unique and special voice. At VIP, religious content has always been a cornerstone of our catalog and our co-productions, and we firmly believe in the value of this niche. That's why these biblical love stories have all the elements to achieve global success,” he added.

For VIP 2000, these vertical series join other recently announced series, such as the original 'Timeless Loves' franchise‘ ('Timeless Love') in co-production with Hemisphere Media Group; and the Turkish film 'Double Betrayal'‘, with the cast of the Turkish drama 'Kuma', in co-production with Stellar Yapım.
